Four Winds Relocation

Moving can feel overwhelming — our goal is to make sure you know exactly what to expect and how to prepare so your move goes as smoothly as possible. Below is a helpful guide outlining customer responsibilities, packing guidelines, and delivery expectations.

Communication & Availability

  • A member of our customer service team will contact you the day before pickup to provide an estimated arrival window.

  • Prior to delivery, you will receive an estimated delivery window from dispatch or the driver.

  • An adult customer or authorized representative must be reasonably available during loading and unloading to review the inventory and address any questions.

Bulky & Specialty Items

If you are moving large or specialty items such as:

  • Pool tables

  • Hot tubs

  • Grand pianos

  • Safes

  • Motorcycles or golf carts

  • Large outdoor equipment

Please notify your relocation specialist at the time of booking. This allows us to properly plan for equipment, materials, labor, or third-party services if needed.

Delivery Scheduling & First Available Date of Delivery (FADD)

At pickup, you will be asked to provide your First Available Date of Delivery (FADD). This date marks the beginning of your delivery window and allows your shipment to be scheduled for dispatch.

  • A FADD is not a guaranteed delivery date

  • If a destination address is not known at booking, please provide it as soon as possible

  • If no FADD is provided, your shipment may be placed into storage

Packing Guidelines

To ensure safe transport, please follow these packing guidelines:

  • All boxes must be sealed on the top and bottom
  • Label boxes with your last name and destination room
  • Labels should be placed on the side, not the top
  • Boxes should be filled so the top does not collapse when pressed

Please note:

  • Open-top boxes are not accepted
  • Plastic or garbage bags are not accepted
  • Plastic totes are acceptable if the lids are securely taped.

Commonly Overlooked Items That Must Be Packed

  • Mirrors and wall art
  • Glass shelves or tabletops
  • Lamps and lampshades
  • Televisions (must be boxed)
  • Mattresses and box springs (must be bagged)
  • Dresser drawers must be emptied

Prohibited Items

For safety and compliance reasons, the following items may not be transported:

  • Liquids or open containers

  • Flammable or hazardous materials

  • Aerosols or propane tanks

  • Perishable food

  • Firearms, ammunition, or explosives

  • Cash, jewelry, personal documents

  • Medications or medical devices

  • Pets or live plants

Pickup & Delivery Equipment

Most pickups are completed using a 26–30 ft straight truck. Depending on routing and logistics, your shipment may be transferred to a larger vehicle for long-distance transportation.

In certain locations (such as apartment complexes, retirement communities, or areas with access restrictions), a shuttle service may be required to safely complete delivery.

A shuttle determination is based on:

  • Safety

  • Accessibility

  • Local restrictions

If a shuttle is required, available options will be discussed with you in advance.

Preparing for Delivery

Please inform dispatch or your driver of any delivery restrictions, including:

  • Elevator reservations

  • Parking limitations

  • Long walking distances

  • Outdoor staircases

Providing this information in advance helps prevent delays and unexpected costs.

Space Reservation Explained

Your estimate is based on a reserved amount of space on the moving vehicle, measured in cubic feet.

This reserved space is dedicated to your shipment and calculated based on the inventory you provided. Items not disclosed in advance may require additional space and may result in a revised estimate prior to loading.

Final Payment at Delivery

Final payment details will be clearly outlined in your estimate and Bill of Lading. Payment is due prior to unloading in accordance with federal regulations.

Your driver will provide proper documentation and receipts at delivery.
